Frequently Asked Question

Everything You Need to Know About Our Document Preparation Services

What does a document preparation company do?

We prepare court documents based on the information you provide. Our job is to make sure your paperwork is complete, organized, and ready to file with the court. We also provide clear filing and service instructions so you know exactly what steps to take next.

Are you a law firm?

No. Case Caddy is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice or legal representation. We cannot tell you what to file, what to say in your case, or what decisions to make. We prepare documents only based on the information you provide.

Can you give me legal advice?

No. We cannot answer legal questions such as whether you should file a case, what your legal rights are, what strategy to take, or what the outcome might be. For legal advice or case strategy, we recommend consulting with a licensed attorney.

What types of cases do you prepare documents for?

We assist with a wide variety of self-represented (pro per) court matters, including:

  • Evictions (landlord and tenant)
  • Divorce
  • Legal separation
  • Child support
  • Custody and parenting time
  • Small claims
  • Name changes
  • Bankruptcy (non-attorney petition preparer)
  • Other family law and civil matters, depending on your state

If you don’t see your case type listed, reach out—we may still be able to help.

How does the process work?

  1. You complete a guided intake form with all required information.
  2. We prepare your documents according to your state’s rules.
  3. You receive your complete packet with clear filing instructions.
  4. You file the documents with the court and serve the other party, following the instructions provided.

How long does it take?

Most document packets are completed within 3–5 business days, depending on complexity. Expedited service is often available upon request.

Do you file the documents for me?

We provide step-by-step filing instructions, but in most cases, you are responsible for filing the documents with the court. However, in some states/counties, we can assist with e-filing or submission—just ask if this is available for your area.

Do you provide help after I file?

Yes! We can prepare additional forms you may need as your case progresses, such as responses, motions, amendments, disclosures, or final orders. Additional fees may apply depending on the documents.

What if I don’t know which forms I need?

We can explain what forms are commonly used for your type of case, but we cannot tell you what you personally should file—that would be legal advice. You may always consult an attorney for guidance, and then return to us once you know what you need prepared.

Can you help with complicated or contested cases?

Yes—as long as you know what documents you need. Many customers with contested cases use our service to save time and money by having us prepare the required paperwork.

How much does document preparation cost?

Pricing depends on the type of case and how many documents are required. We offer flat-rate packages whenever possible, so you know exactly what to expect. Contact us for a free quote.

Do you guarantee the outcome of my case?

No. We cannot guarantee results in any court matter. Our service ensures that your documents are prepared accurately and professionally—but the judge, the law, and the facts of your case determine the final outcome.

Can I use your service if I already have an attorney?

If you have an attorney, your attorney typically prepares your documents. However, if you are representing yourself and simply need help with the paperwork, we are here to support you.

How will I receive my documents?

All documents are delivered electronically in PDF format. You can download, print, and sign them at your convenience.

Is my information kept confidential?

Absolutely. Your information is encrypted and protected. We do not share your details with anyone—not the court, not the other party, and not outside companies.

Can you help me understand my paperwork after you prepare it?

We can explain what each document is called and general court processes, but we cannot interpret your rights or advise you on legal strategy.
